During Vantaa’s Business Days, Pekka Timonen, the city manager, presented Vantaa’s vision for artificial intelligence. The vision is to create a training and research center for applied artificial intelligence that will utilize local data from Vantaa. Research director Jari Kaivo-oja also presented ten initiatives for the realization of Vantaa’s digitalization and AI vision, which are as follows:

1. Companies based in Vantaa should develop an artificial intelligence strategy that outlines how AI will be utilized in various business operations.

2. A mass data center should be established in Finland, preferably in Vantaa, to support AI-based utilization of mass data in services.

3. Without growth companies in the platform economy, it is not worth dreaming about significant growth

4. A university network supporting Industry 4.0 will be established in Finland – is Vantaa included?

5. From Smart City to the MetaCity network.

6. Zurich number one in digital cities

7. Poland is the number one digital hub for the metal industry.

8. It’s worth familiarizing oneself with Norway’s digital strategy.

9. Companies in Sweden have a happiness-based customer culture that serves as a sustainable development model worth learning from.

10. Innovations are necessary to create time for SME entrepreneurs to learn new things.

Research director Jari Kaivo-oja also proposed naming Helsinki-Vantaa airport Martti Ahtisaari airport. Some of the proposed names include:

Martti Ahtisaari International Airport,

Martti Ahtisaari Airport Helsinki-Vantaa, and

Martti Ahtisaari Helsinki-Vantaa Airport.
